Push processing is extending the development to chemically compensate for an entire roll that has been intentionally or unintentionally underexposed. The results are typically higher contrast and more grain than correctly exposed and normally processed.
Pull processing is the opposite where the whole film is overexposed and then underdeveloped to retain the highlights, have more shadow detail and less grain.

Yes, the choice of developer for B&W will determine how your negatives will come out as they have their own unique characteristics in sharpness, tonality, grain and film speed just like the films themselves. This allows for a lot of creative potential and help you have a certain style to your photos.
But if you don’t mind what developer, then it’s okay! We will default to 510 Pyro, our award winning developer that we manufacture, or a developer we might deem to be most suitable for your film.

We use the best machines in the business for developing film:
For C41 roll film, we use a Noritsu v50; for B&W roll film, we hand develop and for sheet film, we use a Jobo CPP3 and Jobo expert drums. For digitising the film, we use the latest technology using a Panasonic S1R, Negative Supply and Negative Lab Pro to digitise the roll and sheet film. This allows incredible detail and superbly accurate colours with true resolutions possible up to 180 megapixels.

We offer four main different scanning options for the resolution and output you would prefer:
RAW
Medium JPEG, high JPEG
Medium TIFF, high TIFF
Ultra RAW and ultra TIFFRAW and ultra RAW are the highest quality files and are untouched scans of the film so they are effectively digital negatives. This means that you as the customer can convert at home using the appropriate software such as Negative Lab Pro or Grain2pixel etc. It allows maximum flexibility to edit to the style you like.
Medium and high JPEG are scans converted by us to make them look as good as possible to our interpretation of the film’s images. They are great for sharing online, to friends and printing but very limited to edit further.
Medium, high and ultra TIFF are also scans converted by us to make look as good as possible to our interpretation of the film’s images but they are significantly larger files. This is to allow some more freedom in editing for you, the end customer.
The ultra options are available only to 120 film and are very high resolution typically 100 megapixels or more.
